Itinerary / Highlights

Getting to the Area:

The Ardèche is in the south of France between the central mountains and the river Rhone, just north of the Mediterranean. We are in the south of the department near to the town of Vallon Pont d'Arc. Nearby cities with high speed rail terminals or international airports are Nimes (1hr), Avignon (1 hr), Montpellier (1.5 hrs), Lyon (2hr), Marseille (2hr) and Beziers (2hr). (driving times).

Lagorce is a village in an excellent location. There are fantastic experiences and adventures to be had in every direction. Evasion Travel runs most of its Ardèche activity holidays from here.

Canoeing on the Ardeche River is very popular

To the south of Lagorce is Vallon Pont d'Arc, gateway to the fabulous Gorges de l'Ardèche National Park. The gorge is hugely popular with canoeists and walkers. The River flows through 32km of deep canyons and stunning natural features including the fascinating Pont d'Arc. The small rapids on the river make for an exciting trip that is manageable for any confident swimmer over the age of 7.

To the west, the Ardèche river widens and turns North towards the market town of Ruoms. There are excellent sites for climbing in this region as well as picturesque villages and wonderful riverside beaches.

To the north is the steam train town of Vogüé and the administrative centre at Aubenas. The landscape changes rapidly as the traveler works north and west as the high granite mountains of the Massif Centrale emerge from the horizon.

To the east lies the babbling Ibie river & almost dry in the summer but for the chattering of water beneath the rocks that emerges into cool pools for escaping the summer heat. Beyond the river is the St Remeze forest with miles of walking trails, botanical exhibitions and nature reserves. The prolific peak of the Dent du Rez stands guard over the hotel and beyond.

Accommodation Details

Rooms at the Auberge le Cheval Blanc all have en suite facilities and are available as twins, doubles, triples or quads. Four-person ‘family rooms´ are separated into two parts by the bathroom and a door with a double bed one one side and a bunk or twins beds on the other.

Rooms are designed with comfort and practicality in mind. Each has its own toilet and shower as well as plenty space for all of your gear. Some rooms have balconies and others have outdoor space by the pool enclosure.

We also have the ‘little house´, ideal for larger families or groups on a budget break. The three bedrooms share a bathroom and there is also a private terrace overlooking the pool.

Facilities:-
The hotel is very well equipped for the active traveller. Here are some notes on the facilities available.

Swimming pool: The pool is surrounded by sun loungers and has a view over the valley. It´s a great place to cool off after a hot day or to soak up a few extra rays of sunshine…

Internet: The hotel has amplified WiFi to ensure that the you can get online throughout the building.

Security: Rooms have individual keys and we can securely store valuables on request.
Games areas: There is a small games area by the pool as well as a football pitch and tennis courts on the edge of the village.

Bar: The bar is open whenever you are around and is very well stocked. Drinks can be put on room bills for payment at the end of your stay.

Restaurant: Our restaurant has an excellent reputation so make sure that you reserve your place! Our half board menu is available or meals can be ordered ‘a la carte´.

TV lounge: The TV lounge shows French TV and also has a selection of DVD´s and board games.

Parking: There is a small parking area at the back of the hotel or street-side parking on the quiet road at the front.

Staff: The hotel has a dedicated team of domestic staff in addition to the live-in Evasion Travel staff who are here to help and advise you during your stay.
